AUDIOLOGIST OF THE YEAR RETURNS
Hearing professionals have an opportunity once again to be recognised as leaders in the field following the launch of the 2012 Audiologist of the Year award.
Rayovac, the world’s leading maker of hearing aid batteries, has again joined forces with Audio Infos magazine to support this competition which is widely recognised as Europe’s top prize for audiologists.
Set up to recognise and reward excellence in audiology, Audiologist of the Year invites patients to nominate professionals – both private and in the NHS – who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to care.
The competition, now in its fifth year and judged by an independent panel of industry experts, has attracted thousands of entries from patients around Europe including many inspirational and heart warming personal stories.
Robert Beiny, last year’s winner, believes that the competition has had a positive effect on business. He said: “The profile and the kudos that’s come with it have been excellent and I’ve really enjoyed it.
“Within the industry people have been very supportive but also locally it’s been very good. People have recognised me and there’s been a really good atmosphere around the practice. It’s a great idea for a competition.”
Robert’s patient nominated him for last year’s award. She praised the high quality of Robert’s care, highlighting his knowledge of hearing, his compassion and understanding of patients’ problems, particularly the time and care he takes to explain what he is doing and discuss any technical issues. This includes spending significant amounts of time trialling new settings on his hearing aids to find the perfect one.
Audiologist of the Year is open to people living in the UK, France, Germany, Austria, Spain and Sweden. A national champion is chosen in each country before an overall winner is announced at Europe’s premier hearing event.
The finale of the competition will come at the 2012 European Union of Hearing Aid Acousticians (EUHA) Congress in October. The winner will enjoy an expenses paid trip to the event in Frankfurt and be presented with their prize at a special Evening of Excellence in front of peers and industry experts.
